The beach in Oxnard is one of my favorite places to shoot. You have the dunes, it's never crowded, and the beach faces right toward the sunset. Although truth be told, the best beach is the one that means the most to your family. If you have a special beach, let's make some family portraits there. Whenever possible, I try to incorporate a location with special meaning to you and your family.
The wind had whipped up some crazy sea foam on this particular day, which the kids enjoyed playing with.
I've mentioned my love of film photography (as opposed to digital) in other places on my site already, but here's an example of why I love it so. The image below on the left is an extreme image technically. The boy's face is in shadow, away from the sun. A digital camera would have blown out the bright areas of the sky in the attempt to keep the face's exposure looking good. But film? Not a problem, bright areas are gently squeezed into range. You can still see detail in the waves, the clouds and the sea foam. Magical stuff, that film. And I shoot with it 100% of the time.
