Hey everyone! I’d like to ask you all a favor:

Please vote for me in the annual Ventura County Star Readers Choice Awards!

Simply click on the link below. Page down to the “services” section and find “photographer”. Just start typing my name in the field. By the time you get to “matt h” you’ll be able to select my name. You must vote in at least ten categories for your vote to count, so pick some of your other favorite choices as well.

You have until February 6th, but please don’t wait that long. There are prizes too, of $1000, $750 and $250, and your vote is also your prize entry. Only residents of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties are eligible for the prize money (if you’re not in one of those counties but would still like your vote for me to count, contact me).

Fashion+Light: my new behind-the-scenes fashion photography blog

Just a quick post to point you at my new blog, Fashion+Light. This site features top fashion photographers, wardrobe stylists, designers and more. It shows complete fashion spreads (some already published, some not), as well as behind the scenes shots and setup shots. Commentary is provided by the photographer as well as either the fashion stylist or someone else on the non-photography side. Currently there are shoots up there by Chloe Crespi, Jason Christopher and Matt Haines (me!). More to come!

Delise’ Ana Fashion Show

Last night I attended the Delise’ Ana show at Boulevard3 club in Hollywood. A smokin’ club! I’ve never been there before, and it was really nice. The fashion show was quick, as most solo shows tend to be. I did have the good fortune to shoot the models in the dressing room before the show. I met Delise’Ana about a year ago and we’ve been in touch off and on, so I jumped at the chance when Little Designer Book asked if I could cover the show. It was a little insane going to a show that starts at MIDNIGHT…hey I’m not 23 anymore! But it was fun and worth the experience. Below are more images from the show, and some from the preparation beforehand.

I just an image accepted on light-test.com. If you’re not familiar with the site, it’s a place where photographers submit amusing or unusual lighting test shots. These are the shots that are taken before the actual photography, to make sure the lighting is right. So go check it out!

Hey everyone, I need your help please!

The VC Reporter (a Ventura County weekly newspaper) is now conducting its annual readers poll survey. Readers can vote for their favorite Ventura County businesses, artists, etc. I would appreciate if you would vote for me as “best photographer.” You don’t have to vote for anything else if you don’t want to…but “best photographer” is on page 10, and you need to complete page 11 for the survey results to be registered. The survey asks for an email address at the end for verification, but there doesn’t appear to be any verification done (hint hint, if you’re worried about receiving spam).

You don’t have to live in Ventura County to vote!
