Yeah you're right. In his defense, he did go into more detail about general dodging and burning to get *his* version of it. But yeah, the real meat and potatoes effect is the same thing I mentioned in a comment on his blog (which he deleted), and I also described <a href="http://matthainesphotography.com/photoblog/archives/176" rel="nofollow">here</a>.
