Matt Haines is an award-winning photographer, whose work has been exhibited in galleries both locally and nationally. He has a 'knack' for taking children's photographs, capturing the shear joy of being a child—something other photographers sometimes miss. He also has a real feel for the land and the light, the natural composition inherent in the clouds and the trees, and he uses this talent to create stunning works of art. Family Portrait Pricing

The on-location portrait session fee is $200, and includes a free 8x10 print. You can pick your favorite location, or Matt can suggest one. Ventura County has so many beautiful beaches and public parks to choose from. Or you can have your portraits taken in the privacy of your backyard or house. Event Coverage Services

Matt doesn't do wedding photography, but he does just about all other types of event coverage, including corporate events, bar mitzvahs/bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteen parties, family reunions, anniversary celebrations etc. Email or call for event pricing and services. Alternative Process Printing

Matt specializes in handmade photographic processes that originated in the 1800s, including kallitype, cyanotype and Van Dyke printing. Each sheet of fine watercolor paper is coated by hand with a light-sensitive material, and a large negative is contact-printed onto the paper. The print is developed and washed in a manner similar to silver gelatin paper (i.e. traditional photographic paper), however the process predates silver gelatin by a hundred years or so. When the prints are archivally toned with either gold, palladium or platinum, they will last for approximately 150 years if stored properly. Imagine getting a photographic print that your great-great grandchildren will be able to appreciate! Matt Haines is the only portrait photographer in southern California offering this exclusive service. Prices start at $750 for a matted print (not including portrait session).

Silver Gelatin Printing

There's nothing like the look and feel of a fine-art black and white photograph, printed on fiber-based heavy paper. They call it 'silver gelatin' for a reason: when the light hits it just right, you can actually see the silver particles shimmering in the print. Whether your portrait session was shot digitally or on film, Matt can make a gorgeous museum-quality traditional print for your wall. Ask about a custom-designed package.

Film Photography

Are you the sort of person who can taste the difference between a $200 bottle of wine and a $10 bottle? Can you spot a designer purse from 50 feet away and know instantly whether it's the real deal or a knock-off? Then you're also the kind of person who can appreciate the special qualities of film photography. Even with the advances in digital technology, film records more detail in the brightest and darkest areas, can produce higher resolution images for gorgeous, detailed prints at almost any size, and has a certain 'natural' feel that digital cameras don't quite achieve. Matt can design a film package for you in either color or black and white, either alongside the standard digital portrait session, or exclusively on film.

Large Format/Vintage Lens Portraits

If you need a large print with superb quality for your living room, there's nothing like having a 'large format' camera to capture the moment. Also available are images taken with vintage and handmade lenses, to give an antique feel that no computer manipulation can match. Contact Matt for more details.
